The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the network operations of the enterprise through the management of the organization’s network engineers and analysts. The network engineering manager provides guidance when it comes to analyzing and evaluating network functionality, and managing network systems such as routers, switches, load balancers, and traffic monitors. The Network Engineering Manager directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT networking initiatives and facilitates the daily maintenance of the IT network operation. This individual is also responsible for ensuring all systems adhere to defined network policies and standards. The Network Engineering Manager is expected to interface with peers in the Systems, Operations, and Security departments, as well as with the leaders of the business units, to ensure the corporate network operations are maintained through collaborative co-operation.

Job Responsibilities:

*Manage and participate in the design and on-going support of corporate LANs, WANs, and Metro Area networks.
*Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on network systems, operations and best practices.
*Oversee the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new networking solutions and of any enhancements to existing network solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise’s standards documents specifically.
*Ensure the enforcement of enterprise security standards with respect to network operations and systems.
*Engage in ongoing communications with peers in the Systems and Security groups as well as the various business groups to ensure enterprise wide understanding of networking goals, to solicit feedback and to foster co-operation.
*Work closely within the department on corporate network technology development to fully optimize the communication of information and allow for information processing.
*Manage the administration of all computer networking systems and their corresponding or associated software, including routers, switches, wireless, load balancers, and network monitoring systems.
*Creatively and independently provide resolution to IT network problems in a cost-effective manner.
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT network industry including awareness of new or revised solutions, improved processes and the development of new technologies for improved performance.
*Understand all contracts related to network technologies and when they expire and when to start renewal process or provide alternative solution.
*Where necessary, supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of network staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
*Develop metrics for the department and opportunities for improvement.
*Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

*College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 7 years equivalent work experience.
*Individuals must have at least 4 years experience in network engineering in a large or enterprise IT environment, and at least 6 years experience in Information Technology.
*High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
*Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills for leadership, technical and business audiences
*Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
*Must be a critical thinker, with strong problem-solving skills.
*Detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined, with excellent time management skills
*Working technical knowledge of network systems including routers, switches, wireless, load balancers, and network monitoring systems.
*Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols.
*Proven experience in planning, organizing, and developing IT network system technologies.
*Excellent understanding of project management principles.
*Strong consideration given for network related certifications, specifically with one or more of the following certifications:
*Must be 21 years old.
*Must be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required, at present or in the future, for this position at all times
